Burnley vs Manchester United LIVE: Latest Premier League updates

Follow all the action as Burnley welcome Manchester United to Turf Moor in the Premier League this evening.

Sean Dyche’s side are embroiled in a relegation battle and currently sit bottom of the table, although they have played at least two games fewer than their closest rivals. Burnley missed the chance to kickstart their survival bid in a disappointing 0-0 draw against fellow strugglers Watford last weekend as January signing Wout Weghorst made his debut up front. The Clarets are still only three points adrift of safety, though, and Dyche hopes the club can take advantage of the disruption and disharmony at United.

Ralf Rangnick’s squad have been rocked by the arrest of Mason Greenwood, while Jesse Lingard publicly questioned the head coach’s assertion that he asked for time off after being denied a deadline day move to Newcastle. United were then knocked out of the FA Cup by Middlesbrough on penalties in the fourth round last weekend in a disjointed performance. United do still have strong hopes of securing a Champions League spot this season and currently sit in fourth, although both Arsenal and Tottenham boast games in hand.

Elsewhere in the Premier League

There are also two other Premier League matches taking place right now. Newcastle are taking on Everton and West Ham hosting Watford. These games kicked off at 7.45pm and have just kicked off the second half.

This is how things stand:

Half-time: Burnley 0 – 1 Man Utd

45+2 mins: It’s been an exciting first half at Turf Moor. Manchester United found the back of the net of three occasions but only one goal was counted. Raphael Varane’s header was chalked off due to a foul from Harry Maguire. Paul Pogba then scored on his Premier League return before giving away a foul himself to rule out Ben Mee’s own goal.

The visitors have been the better, more dominant team but Burnley have shown a bit of promise and they’re not out of this game just yet. As so often is the case the next goal will be crucial. If Man Utd score it, they should go on to win the game. If it comes for Burnley, all three results are back on the table.

Burnley 0 – 1 Man Utd

45 mins: Two minutes to be added on at the end of the first half. Manchester United in possession on the right side. Fernandes checks inside and is clipped by Pieters on the halfway line. The free kick is taken quickly with United looking to run the clock into the break.

Burnley 0 – 1 Man Utd

42 mins: This is a nice spell from Burnely. They’re operating in and around the Manchester United penalty and getting the home fans excited. It’s fine build-up play but nothing of substance comes from it. The best move sees McNeil slide and pass into the right side of the area for Connor Roberts to collect. He cuts it back into the middle of the box but can’t pick out a teammate and United clear their lines.

Burnley 0 – 1 Man Utd

39 mins: Bruno Fernandes laces the ball up the pitch to send Marcus Rashford sprinting forward on the counterattack. Burnley are quickly back in their defensive shape and Rashford is forced to knock it back to Paul Pogba.

Man Utd pass it around the midfield for a spell before moving the ball over to the left side. Jadon Sancho brings it into the box and shoots but a deflection pushes the ball over to Rashford on the right. He takes a touch and drills another shot at goal but Nick Pope is up to the challenge and keeps it out.

Burnley 0 – 1 Man Utd

36 mins: Burnley have yet to register a shot in this game. They’ve moved the ball into some decent areas but haven’t put David De Gea under pressure. It’s all a bit too easy for Manchester United at the minute.

Diogo Dalot goes on a driving run from the right wing. He brings the ball into the middle of the box and sets up Bruno Fernandes. Fernandes attempts to open up the far bottom corner but can only scuff a shot straight at Nick Pope.

Burnley 0 – 1 Man Utd

33 mins: SAVE! What a save this is from Nick Pope! Fernandes sweeps the ball over to Sancho on the left wing. He brings the ball up to the penalty area and slips in Shaw who makes an underlapping run into the box. Shaw’s cross is deflected and loops to the back post where Edinson Cavani waits for it to drop. He nods the ball towards the near post but Pope scurries across his line and leaps in front of the headed effort to keep the ball out!

Burnley 0 – 1 Man Utd

30 mins: Man Utd attempt to walk the ball into the box from the left with short passes between McTominay, Pogba and Rashford. They aren’t successful and have to release the ball across to Fernandes who is immediately put under pressure from the Burnley defenders. He knocks it back to Varane who tries to find Sancho on the left wing but overhits the chipped pass and knocks it out of play.
