We came across the wedding pictures of graphic design artist, Dipannita Dutt on designer duo Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla and we can’t get over the sheer beauty of the radiant bride’s wedding sari.
Dipannita Dutt looked like an absolute vision on her wedding day as she dressed in a heritage Dhakai sari. The timeless traditional weave by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla is said to expertly embroidered with sequins and handmade gold lace to mesmerising effect. A zardozi and stone sleeveless blouse added a contemporary twist to the bride’s traditional look. Dipannita accessorised the ensemble with her mother’s traditional Bengali jewellery and we loved every bit of her real look.
So what is a Dhakai? It is a type of drape made with cotton. The name comes from Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh, where this type of sari is usually made.
The sari that was known as Jamdani in the olden days is making a comeback with sari connoisseurs.
If you love simplicity, pick up a cotton drape with a hint of gold like Dipannita and shine on, on the biggest day of you life.
