The tastiest TV treats! Comedy caper homemade mini pizzas

Comedy pizzas, crime scene cupcakes…fun themed snacks to go with autumnā€™s televisual feastĀ Ā

These delicious comedy caper homemade mini pizzas are a great alternative to takeawaysĀ

Forget the takeaway and have fun making your own mini pizzas instead. Capers, olives and chopped vegetables can be used to create any design you like to get you in the mood for some light entertainment.

Makes 8

  • 300g (10Ā½oz) strong white bread flour
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1tbsp fast-action dried yeast
  • 1tsp caster sugar
  • 190ml (6Ā½fl oz) warm water
  • 1tbsp olive oil
  • 150ml (Ā¼pt) tomato and basil pasta sauce
  • 150g (5Ā½oz) mixed grated Cheddar and mozzarellaĀ
  • Capers from a jar, drained
  • Toppings of your choice

Place the flour, salt, yeast and sugar in a bowl. Mix the water and oil together and stir into the flour until the mixture comes together.

Turn outĀ onto a lightly floured work surface and knead for 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Place into a clean, lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean tea towel and leave in a warm place for 45 minutes, or until doubled in size.Ā

Preheat the oven to 240Ā°C/fan 220Ā°C/gas 9. Put a baking sheet in to preheat. Tip the dough onto a work surface and knead for 2-3 minutes. Divide into 8 equal-sized pieces and press each one into a 10cm circle.Ā

Spread with sauce, sprinkleĀ with cheese and add your toppings. For our funny face, we used courgette and capers for eyes, a tomato for a nose and pepper and capers for a mouth.Ā

For a classic caper pizza, try Parma ham,Ā artichokes (from a jar), watercress and capers. Bake on the preheated sheet for 12 minutes, or until crisp.Ā Ā
