A popular home cook has shared how to make a delicious dessert with leftover hot cross buns that’s easy to make and only requires six ingredients. 

Sydney foodie, Ayeh Manfre, known online as Cooking With Ayeh, created a delicious hot cross bun pudding that she claims is a ‘crowd pleaser’. 

To create the sweet treat Ayeh first sliced a six-pack of hot cross buns in half and applied a layer of butter to the bottom half of the buns.

She then added 350ml of custard, 180ml of almond milk and a dash of vanilla extract into a large bowl.

Ayeh also added cinnamon and a pinch of salt into the bowl then mixed everything together before placing the hot cross buns into a deep dish.

Ingredients:

  • Six-pack hot cross buns
  • 350mL Custard
  • 180mL Almond milk 
  • Vanilla extract 
  • Cinnamon 
  • Salt  

Method: 

  1. Slice a six-pack of hot cross buns in half and apply a layer of butter to the bottom half of the buns.
  2. Add 350mL of custard, 180mL of almond milk and a dash of vanilla extract into a large bowl.
  3. Add cinnamon and a pinch of salt into the bowl then mix everything together before placing the hot cross buns into a deep dish.
  4. Pour the custard mixture over the buns and let the mixture soak into the buns for one hour.
  5. Place them into the oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown and serve straight away while hot.
