Engineering giant John Wood Group rows back from ‘no jab, no job’ policy – which demanded that employees receive Covid vaccinations

Engineering giant John Wood Group has rowed back from a ‘no jab, no job’ policy – which demanded that employees receive Covid vaccinations.

The firm, which provides consulting and engineering services for the oil industry, introduced a mandatory vaccine policy in November.

However, the policy is now under review.

Change of heart: John Wood Group introduced a mandatory vaccine policy in November

A spokesman told The Mail on Sunday: ‘We now believe a greater emphasis on a range of control measures may be more appropriate.

‘While we promote control measures such as vaccines, testing and working from home, we also recognise that all colleagues have a choice – the decision to vaccinate or not lies solely with each individual.’

Just a few large UK firms have introduced ‘no jab, no job’ policies, including miner Anglo American and cruise operators Tui and Carnival.

The MoS last week revealed that retailer Ikea had cut sick pay for unjabbed staff forced to isolate.
