Tom Daley stands out from the crowd as he goes shirtless in a red suit and statement platform heels for the Team GB ball

Tom Daley took fashion inspiration from Harry Styles as he arrived at the Team GB ball in a flamboyant red suit and platform heels in London on Thursday night.

The Olympic diver, 27, who headed to Paris Fashion Week earlier this season, stood out from the crowd as he decided to ditch a shirt for the black tie event.

Teasing a peak of his muscular physique, Tom proudly posed with his gold medal before heading inside Evolution to enjoy a night with his fellow sportsmen and women.

The athlete appeared in his element as he strutted down the red carpet in his sky-scraper platforms.

Smiling for the cameras, Tom teamed the look with two gold necklaces.

It appeared the sportsman had been inspired by Gwyneth Paltrow who re-wore her iconic Gucci suit earlier this month, after first wearing it in 1996.

Joining Tom at the ball was Gethin Jones and Orla Chennaoui.

Former all-Ireland triple jump champion Orla, 42, cut a glamorous figure in a plunging black minidress, while former Blue Peter star Gethin, 43, rocked a suit and black bow tie to the event.

Chemmy Alcott, equestrian gold medalist Laura Collett, Georgia Taylor-Brown and Alex Yee were also dressed to impress for the evening of sports celebrations.

Tom, who won gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, was spotted crocheting and knitting as he sat watching the games in Japan this year.

During the Olympics Tom and Matty beat China by just 1.23 points after a nerveless display in the synchronised category as Daley collected his third Olympic medal.

Daley made his Olympic debut as a 14-year-old in Beijing and won bronze at London 2012 and Rio five years ago.

Daley and Lee were not expected to win, with China the favourites, but they never dropped out of the top two and finished with a score of 471.81 following an exceptional forward four-and-a-half somersaults pike when the pressure was on in the final round.
