Nicole Kidman eats photographs in a first-look trailer for the star-studded upcoming Apple TV+ anthology show Roar, premiering April 15.

Cynthia Erivo begins to discover that she has inexplicable bite marks on her body – first one on her leg and later even one on her face.

Wow: Nicole Kidman eats photographs in a first-look trailer for the star-studded upcoming Apple TV+ anthology show Roar, premiering April 15

Alison Brie, Merritt Wever, Issa Rae, Meera Syal, Betty Gilpin, Kara Hayward and Fivel Stewart round off the sterling cast.

GLOW creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch have adapted the series from a book of short stories written by PS, I Love You novelist Cecelia Ahern.

The intriguing trailer opens on a peaceful sunlit room where Nicole, wrapped in a bathrobe, sits down peacefully – and then furtively starts munching a photo.

Cynthia plays a woman who is returning to work after maternity leave – only for her elder child, a little daughter, to scold her: ‘I don’t want you to go! Don’t go!’

Who does what: She tries to reach an agreement with the little tyke, assuring her: ‘I will do bedtime’ and prompting her husband to say: ‘That’s a risky move, promising bedtime’

However she remains unperturbed at the office, as when a male colleague says: ‘I don’t know how you ladies do it,’ and she jokes: ‘Witchcraft, mainly.’

Meanwhile Betty plays a woman whose husband puts her up on a shelf – in quite a literal sense that offers a glimpse of the whimsy of the show.

Betty arrives home to find her man has put a shelf on the wall and when she asks whether he plans to put his golf trophies there, he replies: ‘It’s for you.’

Woah: Nicole certainly didn't disappoint with her talents in the preview

Immediately thereafter Betty is seen literally sitting up on the shelf while wearing a frilly party dress and looking faintly disquieted.

Issa on the other hand plays a writer whose work is being adapted for the screen, a prospect that leaves her ‘itchy’ despite her gal pal’s encouragement.

She sits  down at a meeting full of men and shares her inquiries with them, only to be confronted with the sight of them all staring blankly at her.

”I don’t understand why you guys aren’t answering any of my questions,’ she says, and after a pause one of the men remarks: ‘You aren’t saying anything.’

It appears that they literally appear to be unable to see that she is speaking, and as realization dawns on her face she seems stricken with alarm.

Then the trailer launches into Nicole’s story with a shot of her sitting on the floor in her pajamas in front of an open photo album that has become her snack box.

A later scene shows her husband flipping through the book and noticing ‘a lot of photos missing,’ to which she outright confesses: ‘I ate them.’

Meera Syal is a woman in an alternative universe where wives can simply pop around the local hardware store and exchange their husband for a replacement.

She sits with a few friends commiserating about the state of her marriage, which she entered ‘without even knowing what he would be like.’

‘You could return him,’ one of her pals suggests, prompting another one at the table to drop her food in astonishment.

However Meera’s character Anu takes this advice and is soon seen at the store with her husband in tow, ready to be given back.

‘And what’s the reason for returning your husband?’ the man at the till asks, to which Anu replies with a laugh: ‘Where to start?’

Alison Brie is murdered – and then climbs out of her car breathing: ‘Oh my God, who would do this?’ before realizing she has become a ghost.

From her afterlife she is able to see the dashing cops – one of whom is played by High School Musical heartthrob Zac Efron – arriving at the scene of the crime.

She even uncovers a dashing gentleman who appears to have been her killer and is squatting in the woods, possibly on the prowl.

Fivel Stewart, in her own storyline as a character called Jane, is seen in cowboy gear on horseback saying: ‘You wanna take revenge like a man, you gotta dress like one.’

Merritt Wever meanwhile plays a woman who appears to imagine that she has entered some sort of romantic relationship with a duck.

She cheerfully tells a friend on FaceTime: ‘I met someone!’ and the friend breathlessly asks: ‘Is he married?’

It shortly transpires that the ‘someone’ she has met is a duck that she enjoys romantic terrace dinners with and and gazes lovingly at across the couch.
