Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City: Jen Shah flees trip before police team arrives looking for her

Jen Shah suddenly disappeared moments before a police team showed up looking for her on Sunday’s episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City on Bravo.

The 47-year-old reality star arrived with her hair in cornrows and wore black fur stole, as she loaded her bags on a black limousine van for a girls trip with the other housewives to Vail, Colorado.

Moments after getting a phone call, Jen told the other women that she needed to get off the van and couldn’t go on the trip.

‘Hi baby,’ Jen said, when she answered the phone. ‘No not yet, we are at Beauty Lab and Laser in the parking lot. I need to go to the house?’

Jen looked upset as she caught a glimpse of one of the cameras coming near her. She turned and immediately asked Whitney Rose, 34, to turn off her microphone pack and left the van to finish the call.

Heather Gay, 47, walked up to Jen right after she got off the phone and commented that she looked stressed.

‘I have some bad news,’ Jen told her. ‘ I just got a phone call and Sharrieff Sr. is in the hospital. He has internal bleeding so I need to go.’

Sharrieff , Jen’s husband, was shown earlier in the episode watching her as she was packing for her trip. Jen told Heather that she didn’t know if he was going to need surgery. Heather asked her if she needed them to stay, but Jen said no. She said if he was okay that she would catch a flight to Vail later.

‘How can he be okay?’ asked Heather.

‘I don’t even know what’s going on,’ Jen replied.

Heather then asked if she was going to tell the other women that were waiting in the van that she wasn’t going. Jen walked into the van and told Whitney Rose, Jennie Nguyen and Lisa Barlow her news. Jen got her stuff, loaded it back into a truck her assistant was driving and left.

After Jen pulled away, the women discussed cancelling the trip.

Jennie, 45, told them she was fine with going because there was nothing they could do either way. Heather said hopefully Jen was going to meet them there.

Meredith Marks, who organized the trip, was not in the van because she was in Aspen and said she would meet the women in Vail. Mary Cosby also was not there because she told them earlier she planned to fly private instead of taking the van.

Then 12 minutes after Jen left a team of armed law enforcement officers surrounded the van wearing vests that read police and HSI, Homeland Security Investigations. A producer said there were police outside and they had handcuffs out.

‘We’re looking for Jen Shah,’ said one of the police officers as he approached the van. A producer told him that she just left.

The door opened to the van and the women realized they were surrounded by police. The police demanded to know what vehicle Jen left in and a producer said that she left in a truck. Whitney thought at first that this was all some kind of prank.

‘Wait what the f*** is going on,’ said Lisa, 46.

‘No, I’m freaking out,’ said Heather.

The police asked if Jen was with her husband and Jennie then realized the police were asking about Jen.

‘Holy s*** what the f**** is going on?’ asked Lisa. Heather got out of the van and asked ‘what is going on.’

The police were speaking to a producer and said ‘we have to talk to her to make sure she is okay.’

‘This is not good,’ Lisa said.

A producer told the police that Jen told them she had to leave because her husband was in the hospital.

‘Is this a prank?,’ asked Whitney from inside the van. ‘Is Jen playing a prank on us?’

Heather asked what the initials HSI on their vest stood for and they said ‘Homeland Security Investigations.’ Another officer said ‘we need to speak to her, that’s all.’

Heather told the officers that Jen left and told them she was headed straight to the hospital because her husband had internal bleeding. Lisa said that something’s weird. Whitney revealed that after Jen got that call that she asked her to turn off her mike.

‘You guys I’m going to puke,’ Lisa said.

‘They’re looking for Jen,’ said Whitney.

Heather got into the car and asked if she should call Jen and tell her that they just came here.

‘I don’t think you should,’ Lisa said.

‘You guys what if she is on the run?’, asked Heather.

Jen was arrested later that same day. She was charged along with her assistant Stuart Smith, 43, on March 30th with running an alleged telemarketing conspiracy fraud scheme, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of New York.

They were both charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud in connection with telemarketing through which they victimized 10 or more persons over the age of 55, which carries a maximum sentence of 30 years, and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years, prosecutors said. Both have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The show started with Mary inviting the woman to an Italian cooking night at the Park City Culinary Art Institute and asking them to come dressed in Italian streetwear. Before the event, Mary told Heather she was not going to invite Jennie because of their fight.

Jennie went over to Meredith Marks, 49, house for a pedicure. Meredith told Jennie that she had a house in Vail and wanted to invite all the other women. Jennie told Meredith that she hadn’t talked to Mary since their snow tubing day. She told Jennie that she would have time to spend with Mary at Vail and hopefully could work things out.

Heather and her 17-year-old daughter Ashley had lunch with her niece Caroline, for her 25th birthday, and her husband. The group had alcohol at lunch and Heather said that most of them had had alcohol outside of their homes.

‘We should really toast to burning in hell,’ said Heather.

They toasted to ‘outer darkness’ and Heather said in a confessional that was the lowest degree of heaven in the Mormon faith.

Caroline shared with Heather that the first time she drank was two months ago. She said that the first thing she tried was vodka. Heather said when she got the text that she was having a faith crisis that she almost threw her phone against the room. Caroline said it was only four or five months ago that she started to have doubts about her faith. She said her husband wondered why the church didn’t help them with Covid or why they were so late to accept blacks in the priesthood or on gay rights.

‘If it’s really the true Church we should be leading,’ Caroline said.

Caroline said she was in the church because she thought she had to be but that when she left she felt liberated and could be her true self.

They toasted at lunch to being second-class citizens.

Jen went ski shoeing with her assistant Stuart. She spoke about how she sacrificed herself to further her business, but that now she was focused on spending more time with her kids. She told him that she appreciated that he was there for her in the good and bad times.

‘He is very loyal,’ Jen said in a confessional.

Over at the Park City Culinary Institute, Mary arrived early to set up for the Italian lunch with the other women. Meredith arrived and said in a confessional that she hadn’t seen Mary since she had that uncomfortable conversation with her former pastor Cameron Williams.

Mary said Whitney never picked up to get her invited so she texted her and told her to come in Mafia street fashion. Whitney got in a car with Heather to go to lunch and Heather told her she got a completely different invitation.

‘So she is setting me up,’ said Whitney. ‘You were all going to look amazing designer glam and I was going to show up in a f***ing costume.’

In a confessional, Whitney said Mary wanted her to arrive dressed as a ‘slutty Mafia girl.’ She said Mary even sent her images of what she wanted to wear.

When she arrived, Mary said  it was just a joke. She added ‘next time pick the phone up.’

Mary gave them all aprons in Louis Vuitton bags but said in a confessional that they were not from Louis Vuitton. Mary told the woman she did not invite Jennie.

Jennie spent the day home with her kids making yogurt. She said she knew that Mary was hosting a cooking class and didn’t invite her so she decided to host her own.

‘Mary looks great on the outside,’ said Jennie in a confessional. ‘All these fancy clothes – Chanel, Louis Vuitton – you can dress so elegantly on the outside but Mary pretty s****y on the inside.

At the Italian class, the woman learned how to make pasta. Lisa said in a confessional that she could think of a million things that she would rather be doing than cooking. She said things like ‘clipping my toenails, picking up dog poop, or scrubbing the toilet.’

Before they eat, Heather blessed their lunch. Mary was still mad at Whitney for not calling her back after receiving her invitation. Jen asked Lisa about her event last week.

‘I’m never invited. I’ve gotten used to it Lisa,’ Mary said.

Jen said that she wasn’t invited either. Lisa told them there would be lots more events but that his event was about her kids. Jen told her that her feelings were hurt.

Heather said she thought it was weird and hilarious that Lisa kept saying that her sons made the invite list. ‘What did Jen do to Jack and Henry to keep her off the invite list?,’ said Heather in a confessional.

‘I’m not talking about this anymore, I am done,’ Lisa said.

They started talking about their trip to Vail. Mary learned that Jennie was coming. She said later in a confessional that she didn’t like Jennie because she gossips. Mary then got mad at Whitney. Whitney said she was talking about her like she was a child.

‘You are too insecure, grow the f*** up,’ Mary told her. Mary told her to stop yelling at her.

‘You can go, little girl,’ Mary said. ‘Your car’s out front you can leave.’

Whitney got up and started screaming. She said she didn’t know why this night took this turn.

‘Mary Cosby, I have had your back more than any other in this room, ‘ said Whitney. ‘Mary, I love you.’

‘Well act like it,’ Mary said.

Meredith pulled Whitney aside to talk and told Whitney that she had this weird conversation with Cameron and he said some cryptic things to her.

Whitney said one of Mary’s cousin’s once pulled her aside and told her to never make Mary mad. She said her cousin believes that Mary holds the power of God.

‘Her congregation believes her to be God,’ said Whitney.

In a confessional, Whitney read some of the mean texts that Mary had sent her in the past. The text said that Mary said she didn’t need face lifts and plastic surgery like Whitney.

Meredith brought Whitney back to the table. Whitney asked her if she cared about her like a friend, but Mary told her ‘I don’t think we are friends like that.’

Whitney said in a confessional that she was crushed by that comment.

‘Moving forward, I will no longer be her little soldier,’ Whitney vowed.

‘Gloves are off,’ Whitney told Mary.
