Nadiya Hussain recalls bullies flushing her head down the TOILET

Nadiya Hussain has recalled school bullies flushing her head down the toilet and told how the traumatic experience left her with harrowing flashbacks.

The Great British Bake Off winner, 37, is set to appear on Life Stories with Kate Garraway on Thursday night, and will tell the new host about her ordeal.

Nadiya says how she used to avoid eating and drinking so that she wouldn’t need to use the toilet and suffer flashbacks from the brutal bullying.

During her appearance, Nadiya tells Kate: ‘Before I knew it my head was in the loo and they were flushing it repeatedly and holding me down. All I remember is loo water in my nose, in my ears and my eyes and in my hair.

‘To this day, everytime I go to the loo that image comes to me instantly, it got to a point where I was deliberately not eat or drink water because I didn’t want to use the toilet.

Kate asks: ‘Do you think those boys had any idea what they’ve done to you, what would you say?

Nadiya quips: ‘If they’re watching… in your face.’

Turning to a more lighthearted topic, Kate asks Nadiya what the ‘worst’ cake she has ever eaten is.

Nadiya says: ‘I don’t think I’ve ever eaten a cake that’s horrible.’

Kate then tells her she had taken her cake recipe which she made for the Queen and attempted to bake her a cake, with the help of her son Billy.

‘This is so exciting, nobody bakes for me, when I go to a resturant they take the dessert menu away [because they are scared]’.

Kate then cuts to a clip of herself and Billy baking the cake, as mixture can be seen splurging over the sides of an electrical mixing bowl.

Kate then presents the cake Nadiya tells she ‘likes the roses’, however Kate admits that she did not make that part.

Kate impressed viewers last week as they tuned in to watch her first Life Stories interview with John Barnes on ITV, after taking over the role from Piers Morgan.

Ahead of her interview with Nadiya, The GMB presenter beamed with delight as she sat opposite the British-Bangladeshi baking star for a photograph taken during filming of the upcoming show.

Nadiya, who is the daughter of Bangladeshi immigrants, has previously shared insights into her family’s experiences of Islamophobia, after she and her daughter were called ‘terrorists’.

Speaking on Times Radio in November, the TV chef explained that in the wake of recent terror attacks in the UK, such abuse has become ‘normal’ for her family, and has made them more inclined to ‘stay at home’.

Nadiya said: ‘Not long ago, I was out with my daughter and it was post a terror attack and I had somebody called myself and my daughter terrorists. And that’s something that’s, I suppose, I shouldn’t have to say this, but it has become normal.

‘So when things like that happen, we kind of tend to stay at home a little bit more because we know that the kids might experience something like it.’

It comes after Kate interviewed John Barnes, 58, about his iconic football career, in the first ever Life Stories with her at the helm.

Fans of the show praised the presenter for being ‘refreshing, professional, witty and confident’ as she quizzed John about becoming one of the greatest players in Liverpool FC’s history.

Ahead of her first show last week, Piers Morgan took to social media to wish her good luck. He wrote: ‘Good luck to @kategarraway who hosts her first Life Stories show tonight.

‘As I told Kate today, it does feel a bit weird handing over the reins of a show I presented for so long, but at least it’s to someone I love! Wish her all the very best. Airs on ITV @ 9pm.’

Ahead of taking on the role, Kate – who herself was interviewed on the show last year – said: ‘I’ve always loved having the chance to talk to people, both on air and off.

‘Everyone has a story to tell and the wonderful thing about this show is that you have the airtime to delve into the areas of guests lives that the viewers might not know about already.

‘It’s also a chance to understand more about the bits we do already know about, both good and bad, and hear it in their own words.’

Kate Garraway’s Life Stories continues next Thursday on ITV at 9pm.

Wishing her the best: Ahead of her first show Piers took to social media to wish Kate good luck.
