Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes says his ‘meth teeth’ ruined his chances of becoming a Hollywood star

Dave Hughes thinks it is about time he gets his ‘meth teeth’ finally fixed with veneers. 

And if he does go through with the expensive dental work, the radio host’s wife Holly thinks it could be the edge he needs to ‘make it in Hollywood’.

The 51-year-old made the announcement during his 2Day FM’s Hughsey, Ed and Erin breakfast show on Tuesday.

Hughes, who is missing ten teeth due to poor oral hygiene, spoke about his plans after he was playfully ribbed by his breakfast co-host, Ed Kavalee.

‘Is it time for Hughesy to get rid of his putrid pegs?’ Ed asked listeners. 

Hughes responded by complaining, ‘Don’t call them putrid pegs.’

‘That’s not nice, is it?’ the radio star continued. Erin laughed along with Ed’s jibe at Hughes’ expense: ‘It’s really funny though.’ 

Ed, Hughes and co-host Erin Molan had just completed an interview with reality star Jackson Lonie.

The Married at First Sight groom announced he had spent ‘north of $10,000’ on orthodontics.

Lonie got veneers on his upper teeth and Invisalign – used to straighten teeth – on his bottom row.

‘They’re popping,’ the MAFS star said as he described his new look.

He went to say that the procedures, which come with an eye-watering price tag believed to be closed to $30,000, has given the plumber a new ‘swagger’.

Lonie said he had ‘tested’ the dental work by chewing gobstoppers, a particularly hard candy.

In June, Daily Mail Australia revealed that Lonie spent $24,000 on Picasso Porcelain Veneers applied to his upper teeth.

He later said he had always been ‘a little bit insecure’ about his two front teeth that overlap.

Meanwhile, Hughes revealed during the  Hughesy, Ed and Erin breakfast show in May that his wife-of-twenty-years Holly had previously threatened to stop having sex with him if he lost any more teeth. 

It comes after Hughes admitted Holly once claimed he looked like a ‘meth addict’ due to his lack of teeth 

‘My wife is worried. She says I’m starting to look like a meth addict!’ he said on his Channel 10 show Hughesy, We Have A Problem in 2018.
