Paresh Rawal summoned by Kolkata Police for ‘cook fish for bengalis’ comment – Times of India

Paresh Rawal’s recent controversial comment, during a rally in Gujarat, has added to his woes. Despite his apology on social media, the actor has been summoned by the cops in Kolkata.

According to ANI, Paresh Rawal has been summoned on December 12th by Kolkata Police in Taltala PS for his “cook fish for Bengalis” remark. This development took place after CPI(M) leader Md Salim lodged a police complaint at Taltala PS of Kolkata against the actor’s comment.

But what will happen if Rohingya migrants and Bangladeshis start living around you, like in Delhi? What will you do with gas cylinders? Cook fish for the Bengalis?” the actor had stated according to PTI. After an uproar over his remark, Paresh Rawal had tweeted an apology.

A Twitter user wrote, “Fish shouldn’t have been the topic. He needs to clarify” on Paresh Rawal’s video from the rally. Tweeting his apology in response, the veteran actor wrote, “of course the fish is not the issue AS GUJARATIS DO COOK AND EAT FISH . BUT LET ME CLARIFY BY BENGALI I MEANT ILLEGAL BANGLA DESHI N ROHINGYA. BUT STILL IF I HAVE HURT YOUR FEELINGS AND SENTIMENTS I DO APOLOGISE.”
